(Jakarta – June 29, 2012): PT ART is pleased to announce Imaginary World: Childishly Inspired, a group exhibition featuring three contemporary artists based in Yogyakarta: Tina Wahyuningsih, thedeoMIXBLOOD, and Rennie ‘Emonk’ Agustine. The exhibition includes sculptures and installations that explore how the identity as adult is defined and differentiated from that of child. The opening reception will feature the robotic performance by “Head Dancing Spy,” one of thedeoMIXBLOOD’s kinetic sculptures and the exhibition tour by the guest curator, Jeong-ok Jeon.
Imaginary World: Childishly Inspired attempts to blur the boundary between children and adults by exposing the artists’ vision of childhood magic and fantasy. Based on their different personal childhood memories and experiences, the featured artists’ works share a theme of typical children’s toys, dolls, fairy-tale characters and superheroes. This exhibition encourages audiences to find their inner child’s sensibilities and enjoy a momentary escape from their mundane life.
